I want to know that how many hours we should sleep ?

The amount of sleep required is dependent on several factors:

  • The individual
  • The amount of fatigue
  • The quality of sleep

Some people require more time than others depending upon age, metabolism, etc...

The amount of fatigue that brings sleep also changes how much sleep is required. A person who just ran a 5K is going to sleep longer than a person who walked across the street (providing other factors do not exist.)

The quality of sleep, A BIG ONE, because if you reach nrem sleep you will be a lot more awake when you do awake. NREM sleep occurs when your brainwaves reach theta and delta levels. (aka very low activity). Afterwards you reach REM sleep which occurs as beta waves (a lot of activity) which allows you to dream.

So as you can see many factors depend. I would recommend a phone app like Sleep Bot to monitor your sleep schedule, and see where you are lacking. :)

I have problems sleeping and when I do sleep I sleep about for 4 hours or less.
